Our harness is adjustable on all 4 straps with lots of adjustability, but you'll still need to take the measurements of your dog to ensure you get the right size.

Neck size – gently place the tape measure at the base of your dog’s neck, just below where a collar would sit. Leave space for two fingers between the measuring tape and your dog's coat, aiming for a snug fit so the straps don't sit too tight.

Chest size – place a tape measure gently around your dog’s chest at its widest point, normally just behind the front legs. Make sure to leave a gap (at least 2cm) between the measuring tape and your dog's front legs, as the straps shouldn't sit directly behind their legs. Leave space for two fingers between the measuring tape and your dog's coat, aiming for a snug fit so the straps don't sit too tight.

A note for fluffy doggos

If your dog has a lot of floof, add an extra 1cm-2cm of floof room onto their measurements to allow for the changes in their coat during summer and winter. This is most important if your dog is at the largest measurements of a particular size, because adding the extra floof room may mean they need to size up.

Note: the Breed Size Guide is based on fully grown dogs, sometimes a dog breed can show in two sizes due to variations in build and gender.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Ok, some science talk for two seconds.

Clinical studies have shown that a dog's upper shoulder blades must be able to move freely when walking. Dogs also need the ability to walk with their natural gait.

Without this, it causes impaired movement and over time, can lead to pain, discomfort, musculoskeletal injury and reduced quality of life.

An improperly designed harness can restrict a dog's freedom of movement. This can lead to all of the above negative outcomes and even affect dog behaviour (due to pain), making walkies worse.

Kinda scary when you think about how your dog wears their harness every day.

HARNESS FAQ’S

You wouldn’t wear ill-fitting shoes, as that would be really uncomfortable, right? The same concept applies for your dog’s harness. Make sure the harness size isn’t too tight (as in digging into their skin - that’s no good) and you also want to ensure the chest strap doesn’t sit too close behind the front legs (aim for about the width of 2 fingers between strap and leg).

If the exact measurement of your dog’s neck or chest (without a two finger buffer) is at the maximum measurement, the harness size will not fit as it will be too tight. Please allow space for two fingers between your dog’s body and the tape measure to get the correct size.

We suggest sizing up as long as your pup can still comfortably fit wthin the neck and chest measurements.

A no-pull harness is one with a front clip on the chest plate.The idea behind a no-pull harness is to steer a dog towards you when they start to pull.The front clip uses their pulling force to turn them around, helping your doggo realise that pulling doesn’t get them the result they want and is not the easiest way to go forward. A no-pull harness + some good ole’ walkies training is the best way to stop your dog from pulling on walks.

Hand wash in cold, soapy water or machine wash in a Bisous Laundry Bag on a cold, delicate cycle. You can also use a lint roller for any fur that gets caught inside the inner mesh padding.

Yes! The Smart-Fit Harness has reflective strips on the harness body which are visible at night. Because there are 2 d-rings, you can also clip your leash to 1 d-ring (front or back) and then attach a small LED light (such as a keyring light) to the other d-ring for added visibility and safety.
