Giving Back: We donated $3,000 Worth of Harnesses to Animal Charity

It’s the season of giving, so for Christmas the Bisous Pets team donated over 50 harnesses to the animal shelter and charity, Animal Welfare League of Queensland (AWLQ). Bisous Pets is Gold Coast based, so AWLQ is local to us and does amazing work as an animal rehoming centre for dogs, cats, birds and more. Come along with us to give the gifts and meet the pets!

Donating Our Dog Harnesses

We spent the night before putting together the Smart-Fit Harnesses we were going to donate plus a few more of our dog accessories like the Travel Water Bowl, Dog Sweater and a Christmas card.

We arrived in the morning and were kindly given a tour of the grounds with Kelly the Community Manager, where we got to meet some of the animals and volunteers along the way. The tour started in the dogs section, where two beautiful puppies had just arrived earlier that morning, so we said hello to these cuties while they were getting their adoption photos taken. Unfortunately we didn’t carry size XS harnesses with us on the tour so we didn’t have the right fit for this adorable pup (see image below) - but it’s safe to say that pink is her colour!

Next we headed over to the adult dog area. We met all the dogs and read their bio’s - which give you details about each dog’s personality. The volunteers spend time with each dog every day, giving them a cuddle, play session and taking them for 2 dog walks a day. The donated Bisous Pets harnesses will be used on these walks with the dogs in care, so they will always have a safe, comfortable, and stylish harness to walk in. We’re so proud to have our products used at the centre and to support the amazing work that AWLQ does for animals.

ABOUT AWLQ

AWLQ is a not-for-profit animal rehoming centre and does not receive any government funding, so they rely on donations and 300 incredible volunteers to do their amazing work. The animals here can be lost pets or come from being surrendered by families who can no longer care for them, and AWLQ has a policy where there is no cap on the length of time an animal can stay until they find their forever home. The support AWLQ provides animals includes:

• Gives lost or abandoned animals urgent veterinary shelter and care

• Nurtures animals back to health and prepares them for adoption through their foster carer network

• Rehomes surrendered pets and helps them to find their forever home

• Connects lost pets with their loving families
