Should I use a collar or harness for walks?
You can use either β it's really up to you and your dog's needs. We recommend using the Bisous Smart-Fit Harness as the primary walking attachment, especially if you're training a puppy, your dog pulls on the lead, or you have a brachycephalic breed like a French Bulldog. Harnesses distribute pressure across the chest and body rather than the neck, which is safer and more comfortable for dogs who lunge or pull. The collar is perfect for carrying ID tags and for wearing around the house β used together with the harness, you get the complete, safe Bisous walk kit.
Should I leave the collar on my dog when they're home alone?
We don't recommend it. If a collar gets caught on furniture or another household obstacle while your dog is unsupervised, it can become a choking hazard. We suggest removing the collar when your dog is home alone or unsupervised, and putting it back on when you're around or heading out. ID tags can be moved to a lightweight tag holder attached to the harness if needed.
Can I use the collar as a car restraint?
No β and this applies to any collar, not just ours. If attaching your dog to a car seat belt or restraint system, always use a harness. In the event of sudden braking or an accident, a collar attached to a restraint can cause serious neck injury. The Bisous Smart-Fit Harness is ideal for car travel β it distributes any impact force across the body rather than the neck.
How do I clean the collar?
Hand wash in cold, soapy water β or machine wash on a cold delicate cycle inside a Bisous Laundry Bag to protect the hardware. Reshape while damp and air dry. For fur that gets caught on the inner padding, a lint roller works perfectly. Do not tumble dry.
Does the collar match the Smart-Fit Harness?
Yes β every collar colour corresponds exactly to a harness and leash in the same colourway. Plume Purple collar matches Plume Purple harness and leash, Madame matches Madame, and so on across all seven colours. If you want a fully coordinated look, simply choose the same colour across all three products. You can also mix and match β the muted, French-inspired palette is designed to work well across colours.
What if it doesn't fit?
No problem at all. You have 60 days from the date of purchase to return or exchange your collar if the fit isn't right. Just reach out to our team and we'll sort it for you β fuss-free, no questions asked.
